Earth Day Freebies for 2017 – Over 10 and counting!
Saturday April 22nd, 2017 is Earth Day! Earth day is a day to remember that we should be taking good care of our planet. Each year many places participate in giving away some great freebies in honor of Earth Day. We compiled a list for you.
Seneca Park Zoo
You can Take home a tree sapling or butterfly-friendly plant seeds from Diamond Packaging and learn how to plant them at home from the Seneca Park Zoo. Learn about water run-off with the enviroscape from Rochester Museum and Science Center. Find out how to compost at home from Community Composting. Learn how to recycle and plant for pollinators with Diamond Packaging. Discover sustainable practices within the county from the Monroe County Department of Public Health.
Buffalo Zoo
This Saturday bring your empty bottles/cans to the Buffalo Zoo parking lot and receive 5 cents off admission on this day only for each bottle/can you bring up to $5. All of the money raised will go to the Buffalo Zoo’s conservation efforts!
Wegmans
Bring in your plastic bags and in exchange you get a free reusable shopping bag at Wegmans. They will also have other booths set up in stores for tasting events.
Ikea
Bring your gently used furniture to your local IKEA Store and receive a $20 coupon towards a purchase of $150 or more. They are giving away a FREE 2-pack of RYET 400 lumen LED light bulbs to the first 500 members in the door on April 22! Musuem of the City of New York
Drop-in for a family celebration in honor of the 48th annual Earth Day. Participate in a scavenger hunt in the exhibition Activist New York to learn about the various ways that New Yorkers work to protect our planet. Enjoy activities, songs, books, and healthy snacks. Then design a pot inspired by the environment, and plant a seed to take home with you! Registration suggested, though not required.
