Fresh Fruit Pops For Kids 2

I have been trying for a good couple weeks a bunch of ways to get my fruit blended up to makes some sort of a sorbet – ice cream – popsicle type of a mixture. I watched some viral video about it and then went to try it on my own. The first attempts were a mess. I tried blending up some fruit I had in the fridge after freezing it for a little while. I tried some nectarines, strawberries and a frozen berry mix I had. They came out super chunky and not to the consistency I wanted. I wondered why and if it was because they were not frozen enough, my blender was too small, or if I need to add something more to them?

Onto the next week I was determined to get this to work the way I expected them to turn out. I bought more fresh organic fruit from my local Wegmans. Yum! After cleaning my fruit off (I mix mostly water and small amount of vinegar to clean mine) I portioned some off to containers to go into the freezer. I actually am quite happy being able to use some of the not so great when you buy fruit for these. For whatever reason specially my raspberries happen to be half mushy and wet like even right after buying. I cut up my fruit I choose into chunks.

I selected strawberries, raspberries, and bananas for this weeks treats to try. I happened to have some lemon at home too so I cut one up and squeezed the juice to use to try out a strawberry lemonade combo. I would suggest not using the full lemon in a batch! I pulled the fruit out and poured the strawberries in first and then blended slightly for a minute and added the lemon juice and continued to blend until it reached a consistency I liked.

I found that if you allow the fruit to get completely rock hard you may want to add some water or juice to help it blend faster and give less stress on your blender or food processor (I used a large food processor I got here). I would suggest using a 8 cup or larger food processor. But on the other hand if you don’t allow the fruit to get completely frozen the mixture will end up being more of a liquid. Which is fine if you don’t intend on eating some right away. I used mine to pour into my brand new Silicone Popsicle Molds I bought.

Next up I tried some banana and strawberry mix and the bananas were not fully frozen. I used about a cup to a cup and a half of each for my mixture, but honestly you can toss together just about any ratio to make these frozen treats. That’s the great thing about making things at home! You can mix and match how you want. Especially with something like this being such simple ingredients!

As you can see that the strawberry and banana mix came out to be more of a liquid then the completely frozen berries or strawberries.

When I got done mixing them all I did was grab a cup to hold my silicone molds in so I could pour my mixture into the Silicone Popsicle Molds. It worked out pretty well. I made sure to leave enough space at the top to be able to put the lids on that came with them. Fresh Fruit Popsicles Mixing Fruit Into Mold

They turned out pretty good looking! You can totally add a little bit of honey or juice into your mix too.

After being frozen for about an hour they were pretty easy to eat. The next day my girls had some and they were a lot harder and more frozen. So we ran some hot water over the outside of the Silicone Popsicle Molds and the fruit was then easy to pop up and eat. Kind of like a push up pop.

I can’t wait to try different varieties of fruit this summer. My girls already ate up all 6 of the ones we made in less than 24 hours.

Fresh Fruit Popsicles Molds

The Silicone Popsicle Molds were pretty easy to set up in my freezer to store. I actually think I need to buy another set of these to be able to make more. They were pretty easy to clean too. So happy to be able to make my kids these fresh fruit popsicles!
