Why I Stopped Doing Crafts With My Kids
Let me start off by saying that I love doing crafts with my kids. I never stopped letting them make fun crafts. But, I did stop making them with them like I always had in the past.
Why I Stopped Doing Crafts With My Kids
It’s simple really. I felt like my creations were not good enough. I mean, come on, have you seen pinterest? It’s filled with top of the line pictures of crafts, recipes, and more! I would always find great ideas on pinterest for crafts to create with my kids. After making them I felt as if I did something wrong. They definitely did not look like the pictures I was following. That made me sad and even a bit mad. What did I do wrong?
When I create crafts with my kids I go to our craft bin (which is a miss match of left over items I have, and crafty supplies from birthdays and such). I won’t go out and spend lots of money to create something I saw on pinterest. Why? Well if you follow my site, then you know I’m all about being wise with my money. I’m not about to go spend money on things just so my kids and I can make some fancy thing I saw on pinterest. IF you do that – that’s fine. But that’s not for me.
I realized the other day that it shouldn’t matter what my crafts look like. Why should I feel as though the crafts I create with my kids need to be picture perfect? Maybe you are like me and feel the same way about it. I’m here to say you shouldn’t! Find an idea on pinterest, or wherever it may be, and put your own spin on it! Get creative – have fun! 🙂
I know I will be from now on. No more feeling less of myself.
You can follow me on Pinterest Here. Where my stuff may not be picture perfect, but we sure do have fun making them! 🙂
