Simple & Frugal Breakfast Burritos Your Kids Will Love Making Too
Looking for a simple way to prep some breakfasts meals that you can also do with your kiddos? These breakfast burritos are perfect for just that. I definitely love foods that I can prep that are simple and easy. All you have to do is gather your favorite ingredients. I’ll share which we used.
I cooked up some ground breakfast sausage and chopped it up so it was like crumbled sausage. That way it’s easiest to spread in the burritos. You could cook up bacon or ham if you’d like to add to yours. Which ever meat your family would like to use.
I then cook up some scrambled eggs, chop up some veggies like bell peppers, and gather a bowl of shredded cheese.
The part I think that makes it fund for kids is the creating of the burritos. I put each ingredient into their own bowl and set on the table. This makes it really easy for the kids to assemble.
I used the smaller tortilla soft shells for the kiddos and the larger ones for us adults. I like my kids put their own toppings onto their burritos. Then they get the wrap them up and add their initial onto them so they know which is theirs. Something about making food that makes kids want to eat it… which seems opposite of me as an adult where I’d rather eat food someone else made for me!
After we assemble the breakfast burritos, we roll them up with plastic wrap. You could use parchment or wax paper too. After they are wrapped and labeled I add them to a ziploc bag and add the date to them They usually don’t last a full week in our home though.
This is a simple and frugal way to make your breakfast for yourself and your kids. I think the ingredients we used cost probably around $10 and it gave us many breakfast for the week or longer, depending on how filled you make them.
