My Journey to a Healthier New Lifestyle
For a long time I have longed for change. Every since kids my life has become more and more chaotic. By the time I had my second child, I felt like I was on cruise control. I barely slept for 4 years, and after that I still was feeling exhausted. I was skipping meals and not taking care of myself at all. As I mentioned back in February I started having some health issues and needed some time away from the website. I had a trip to the emergency room one night due to rapid heart beating for hours. Come to find out, it was determined an extreme anxiety attack. I spent the next few months in a fog. I was put on medication and just recently came off that medication, and thankfully I feel so much better. This year so far has been pretty tough for me. I think I’ve over come some personal things and I’m proud of myself to keep pushing forward.
I felt this was the perfect time for some changes in my life. For a long time I’ve been wanting to change some simple aspects of our lifestyle. Not that I ever thought I was a “junk food junkie” as my mother would say, but I felt as I got older that I wanted to change. It’s funny how that happens, isn’t it? I’ve been procrastinating like crazy with this change. My husband and I had been seeing more and more people talk about Advocare and how they lost a lot of weight. Since I had my children I’ve consistently been the same weight – which was a lot more than before I had them. I don’t have an issue too much with how I look with as much as how I feel. Basically I feel like crap. I feel like I’m too tired to do a thing. That even includes folding laundry. It feels exhausting.
What a better way to get going on my want to change things than with a little jump start. A few weeks ago my husband and I purchased Advocare’s 24 Day Challenge. We are currently 7 days into that challenge. I wanted to share my experiences with you. Not only do we plan on continuing to use Advocare’s products, but we also plan on staying on a more healthier diet now that we have started this journey. You all will see that more in what I share here on My Momma Taught Me.
Day 1
My husband read up on everything and told me what to take. I took the required products at the required times. You start off by taking what they call the cleanse for 10 days. I found that the Spark Energy Drinks taste a lot better than I was thinking they were going to. My favorite is the mango strawberry. I went about my usual activity for the day, but I was feeling less tired than usual. By dinner time I was feeling really great. I could definitely feel a difference in the way I felt. Typically by dinner time I’m yawning and starting another cup of coffee to last me through the night. After dinner I cleaned up and packed everything away and started the dishes. I stopped at one point turning and looking at my husband I said, “Wow, when was the last time I actually put everything away and cleaned up after dinner?!” Of course my husband has something smart to say, but also that it was surprising. To many it may seem silly, but that is just how tired I had become. I was slow moving at everything I did. I felt I accomplished so much more in that first day than I had in a long time.
Day 5
By the fifth day I was still feeling better than I had in a very long time. I was drinking 2 – 3 cups of coffee a day, but now only 1 – 2 Spark Energy Drinks instead. I never once felt like I was exhausted surprisingly! I am really enjoying drinking this Spark. I have currently lost 4 pounds.
Day 7
I have to be honest with you all. I stopped taking the fiber powder and the extra pills that you are supposed to be taking on the cleanse part of the 24 Day Challenge. For some reason I woke up the other day with a rash on my arm. And, with my anxiety and how I am, I freaked out a little getting all nervous and worried. My husband had read that it can occur when your body gets too much of one or more vitamins. I did have this happen to me when I was pregnant and taking a certain extra vitamin. I stopped and the rash went away. That’s my guess what was happening here. But, who really knows? I am continuing on with everything else in the challenge. I have currently lost 6 pounds.
I’m glad that we decided to start this new journey. The diet for the 24 Day Challenge has really helped motivate me to start looking for more healthier options for our family. I feel a lot better compared to how I was feeling. I’m excited to be able to loose some weight, have more energy, and to be eating better!
