Tops Shoppers: Big Changes to Geneva, NY Sales Ad and Store Prices

So this has happened at Geneva Tops only. many every day retail prices have been lowered. There are different sales in the ad. I’m working on getting images of ad up today and my thoughts about this for you all.
First thoughts:
Wow, great, lower prices!
Second thoughts:
Man there goes my price list for bogo prices I worked and was working hard on each week.
Third thoughts:
After looking at the lower prices I don’t think it’s as great as what it appears to be. I’ll talk more about this later.
I’m cleaning the pics off my phone and will be looking through the ad and comparing it to the other. So we all can see what’s going on here.

Here is the scan from my Tops ad that states it’s ONLY for Geneva, NY locations. I’m going to highlight and list all the differences between the other ad, and any items that may be missing (because I saw some). I do want to share more about my thoughts on this with you, but for now I am leaving it as is (being Father’s Day and all).

UPDATE: Okay, now let me talk about what I think more… So there are many new price cuts to the regular retail shelf prices. The prices range from $0.10 to a few dollars on some. Some of the deals, for example, Powerade being $0.89 seem good to me. But, majority of the prices are marked down to what they always had as a long term sale. Let me explain. If you shop Tops you know they have many unadvertised sales, and that they run for weeks. So if you go to the store you may see peanut butter on sale for $2.50 a lot (for example) with the shelf price being $2.99. Well now that shelf price has been decreased to $2.49. I’m not sure if they will lower it more than that as often if they did (we shall see how the new sales in this store will be). But to me this is a fancy marketing scheme to get more people in the doors. And hey, that’s fine by me. I just don’t want you all fooled into thinking they went through and did us a huge thing by slashing prices. And I’m not totally bashing this either. I saw coffee regular $8.99 now $6.99 so that’s not bad. As a frequent shopper there though, I’m not entirely thrilled with this change. I see less BOGO deals in the ad and I’m going to be figuring out the price comparisons between those and the new sales. The only plus side I can see to that, is we can use 2 coupons on these sales compared to only one on a BOGO sale. Though, they don’t have as many of the Buy 2 Get 2 Free sales either which sometimes can work out pretty great for us. I believe this is a test to see how well they do since this is not being done in a lot of stores as of yet.
