There is a new program at Walmart called Savings Catcher. It is similar to ad matching, except they search for the lower prices, and if a price for an item is lower at a local competitor’s store than what is offered at Walmart, they will give you the difference in the form of an eGift card.

How it Works

  1. Make a purchase at a participating Walmart store using Walmart Pay.
  2. Submit your eReceipt to Savings Catcher within 7 calendar days, either from your Walmart Pay confirmation page or from your Savings Catcher dashboard. If you aren’t enrolled in Walmart Pay, learn more here
  3. Savings Catcher compares the prices of the eligible items you bought at Walmart to the advertised prices found in the print and online versions of the weekly ads of top retailers in your area. The ads must be valid at the time you made your Walmart purchase.
  4. If Savings Catcher finds an advertised price that is lower than what you paid for the same exact item at Walmart, we will notify you within about a week, and you’ll get back the difference on a Savings Catcher eGift Card.
  5. You may use your Savings Catcher eGift Card to make purchases in-store at Walmart via Walmart Pay or online at Walmart.com.

Buy your products at Walmart like you normally would. When you get home you can Submit your receipt to Savings Catcher. You can enter your receipt number into the Savings Catcher at Walmart.com/savingscatcher. Or you can scan the code at the bottom of your printed store receipt, using the scanner into the Savings Catcher part in the Walmart app. Then they will search all the local stores in your area for the same products you purchased. If their prices are lower, Walmart gives you the price difference on an Walmart Rewards eGift card.

What is Walmart Pay?

  • Walmart Pay is a digital wallet in the Walmart mobile app that enables you to quickly, easily and securely pay from smartphones in Walmart stores.
  • Walmart Pay works with any iOS or Android smartphone capable of downloading the Walmart app, at any Walmart checkout lane, and with any major credit, debit, pre-paid or Walmart Gift Card.
  • It makes shopping faster, easier and more convenient, while at the same time keeping your financial information safe and secure.

How does Walmart Pay work?

  • To use Walmart Pay, you must first download the Walmart app, create or sign into your Walmart.com account and update your account to include a preferred payment method. This can include any credit or debit card, prepaid account or Walmart gift card.
  • While in the store, you will check out as usual – at any lane.
    • When you are ready to check out, scan your items at any staffed or self-checkout register.
    • A unique QR code is displayed on the debit reader screen.
    • Open the Walmart app and launch Walmart Pay.
    • Enter your 4-digit PIN, Touch ID, or Face ID verification for security.
    • Check the drawer at the bottom of the screen to ensure the correct payment method(s) are selected. If you wish to change your payment method(s), tap the drawer to expand your payment settings, and select which payment method(s) you’d like to use,
    • Hold your Smartphone over the QR code on the PIN reader to sync with Walmart Pay. You may scan the QR code before, during or after items have been scanned at the register.
    • As a default setting, Walmart Pay will first pay using your eGift card(s) first, including your Savings Catcher eGift Card, followed by your default payment method(s) saved within Walmart Pay.
    • Once the transaction is complete, you will hear a sound signaling transaction is complete and an eReceipt.
    • The eReceipt will include a button that says “Submit receipt,” which allows you to easily submit your receipt to Savings Catcher in 1 click!

All further information can be found here.
