Do I have to Redeem this Coupon at Walmart?
Often times we see printable coupons with the words “redeemable at Walmart”. Many retailers assume these are store coupons, when in fact they are manufacturers coupons. Even when a coupon has a store logo on it, more than likely it may not be a store coupon. Find out the differences below.
REDEEMABLE AT: This wording means that you can redeem the coupon at that store. The important thing to note is that the coupon may state this, but it does not mean that is the only store where you can redeem it. For instance, it may say “Redeemable at Walmart” but you can still use it at Target. This is just a suggestion companies put on the coupons, suggesting you use it at said store. Keep in mind that some stores may have policies that state they will not accept any coupon with another store’s logo on it – so you may not be able to use them at these locations.
AVAILABLE AT: This does not indicate where you need to redeem your coupon. This is basically an advertisement for the store letting you know where you can find the product. You can use these coupons anywhere. Again, store does have the right to refuse.
Here is what Coupons.com has to say about coupons with the wording Redeemable at:
“A coupon may say Redeemable at Walmart or Available at Walmart but that is a suggestion to use it at that store. As a valid manufacturer coupon, it can be accepted by other retailers.”
REDEEM AT: I believe this also means that the coupon can only be used at the store indicated. I think that only the particular store listed will get reimbursed for this coupon. But, this seems controversial and this one is my personal opinion on the wording.
As for Catalina coupons, if they print with store logos on them, I am pretty sure they are intended to be used only at those stores; however this may vary from store to store. But that is the way I view it, as most of the catalina coupons I have received with store logos on them also say “Redeem At”.
Keep in mind that stores have the right to refuse any coupon they see fit. If you encounter a problem with coupons with the wording, redeemable at or available at, I suggest asking to talk to management about the coupon. Also, this only implies to coupons with the words “manufacturers coupon” at the top. Some occasions you will have printables that are store coupons. These can only be used at said store.
