Snip Snap App = Bad News: What’s Snip Snap App and Why you Should NOT use it
What’s Snip Snap App and Why you Should NOT use it
Snip Snap app says you can “scan, save, and redeem printed coupons on your mobile phone.” They also claim the the “Snap a photo of a printed coupon and SnipSnap magically recognizes all the text and images, and turns it into a mobile-ready offer. Works for most retailers and restaurants. We do not support manufacturer coupons (the kind you might redeem at a grocery store) yet.” But there is nothing stopping users form uploading manufacturers coupons.
Snip Snap and the app is FILLED with coupons that are scanned into the app by users. And by scanned, we are talking about someone taking a picture of a printed coupon or insert coupon, and uploading it to the app. Umm…am I the only one who reads that and goes, “say what?!” They are saying they do not support manufacturers coupons being uploaded to the app, but there is nothing to stop them from doing so. I just seen this morning on a social media group an image of someones manufacturers coupon on snip snap. If you are new to couponing and wonderin, “what’s the big deal?” well I will tell you….
Manufacturers put out a certain amount of their coupons. In order for stores to get reimbursed for those coupons you use they need to turn in PAPER coupons for proof. That is why their is remit addresses on coupons. Those tell the store (or clearing houses) where they are supposed to send those coupons for reimbursement. If the store does not have the PAPER manufacturers coupons they will not get that money back and loose out. Also, it’s not only a problem with manufacturers coupons. Stores also run promotional offers that only intended for select members, or customers. It’s not fair if they only had x amount of money to give out via coupons and a hundred times that is getting redeemed because someone took a picture of that coupon and shared it online. Companies loose money and you can bet this will only hurt couponers in the long run. We all know how coupon misuse leads to less coupons, lower values, stricter coupon policies, hard cashiers, and so on.
Even well known Krazy Coupon Lady tells her readers to stay clear of this app. Another well known blogger, My Litter, talks about how using the snip snap app hurts all of us (just like any coupon misuse does). So I would advise all of you to please not even look at that app, and if you do have it and didn’t know….remove it now! I hope you found this informational and incite-full.
