Tops Markets vs. Wegmans – Take 2
I recently shared my Tops Markets grocery shopping trip for the week. I wanted to do another comparison to Wegmans like I have done in the past in the Tops Markets vs. Wegmans post long ago. Some items were not sold at Wegmans, so I had to find the product most similar. Here is the list of items and prices at Wegmans. I will add the totals and share with you what I would have paid buying my groceries at either store today.
Tops Markets Shopping Trip:
Total Retail Cost – $182.41
Total Cost Spent – $96.25
Wegmans Shopping Trip:
Retail Cost Would Been: $131.63
Total Spent Would Been: $121.63
So I would have spent at least $25 more at Wegmans if I took my list there to get my weekly groceries.
I would not have been able to use a money off my purchase coupon, or the coupons I found attached to items, or coupons on items not even sold in Wegmans. Also, there is no buy one get one free offers or catalina coupons back to spend on my next order. So what do you think? Do you think you save more at Tops Markets or at Wegmans? I definitely believe shopping Tops weekly sales each week you can save your family more money using coupons there! 🙂 Now, if you shop differently or go on another week and get these same items at Tops you may be spending more. Be a smart shopper! If you want to save the most money, you will have to work a little harder to find the best deals each week 🙂
I personally adjust my weekly menu according to sales each week. Otherwise I’d be paying an arm and a leg for everything!

I love price comparison lists! I did it for Tops and Aldi’s and Tops was still cheaper. Of course like you said certain weeks Tops could be more! We just have to be smart shoppers! I love the comparison to Wegmans because sometimes I wonder if I’m missing out on deals by not having a Wegmans closer and you just showed me I’m not! Thanks for taking the time to do this! I’m sharing it on my Batavia’s Best Bargains facebook page!
Me too! I think people fail to realize if Tops didn’t have their weekly sales that their every day prices would be lower like Wegmans and Walmart. But because of the sale we can often find even better deals!! 🙂
