Tops Markets vs. Wegmans

Do you think you save more shopping at Tops Markets or Wegmans??

I have done Tops vs Walmart in the past, and thought I would do a Tops Markets vs Wegmans.
Below is a shopping trip I made at Tops Markets this week. I paid $27.80 for $61 worth of groceries (this is on sale price, retail was $103.72). I looked for prices at Wegmans for the items I purchased at Tops Markets. I found out that the retail value would have been $93.03 for the same items I purchased. Now….if I were to go into Tops next week and get this exact order, it would have cost me over $100….which would have made it cheaper at Wegmans. But since I shop the weekly sales I was able to get a much better deal this week at Tops Markets than I would have purchasing the exact items at Wegmans.

First order: 
4 Campbell’s go soups $2 ea
7 can spaghettios $1 ea
4 chobani $1 each

Use 4 x $0.75/1 Campbell’s go soup (doubles to $1.50/1)
Use 2 x $0.40/3 spaghettios
Use 4 x $0.55/1 chobani 

Got back $5 Catalina for purchasing $15 worth

Second Order
8 pks chicken bogo $6-$8 range
6 tic tacs $1 ea
4 Kraft fresh takes $2.50 ea
Use $5/30 purchase Catalina cashier gave me from someone else’s order they didn’t want
Use $5 off Catalina from order #1
Use 4 x $0.99 off fresh takes (doubles to $1.98)
Use 4 x $1/1 chicken wyb fresh takes
Use 2 x $1/3 tic tac tear pad in store (needed 2 more coupons to get bonus gas pts)

Paid $27.80 AND Earned $0.20 off per gallon of gas

At Wegmans I would have Paid $69.08 after coupons!!!

 I think it all depends on how you shop, and what you shop for. For me I shop weekly sales and base my weekly meals on them. Wegmans does not offer money off your next order catalinas, coupon catalinas, gas points, diaper points, special promotional points (for free items), freebie Thursday items, or promos like save instantly or free items wyb select items. I personally think after you add in the extra money you can save using their catalina offers, gas points, instant savings, etc you end up saving more at Tops Markets.

So what do you think? Do you shop at Tops Markets or Wegmans on a regular Basis for Groceries?

These are based off my personal shopping experiences. I think it all depends on how you shop, and what you shop for. If you purchase more fresh produce items weekly, you may save more at Wegmans. Also, sometimes shopping at more than one store you will find you will save more money.
