I just did my first ever full grocery shopping trip at Wegmans – and it won’t be my last. That’s right folks you heard it. I did not shop at Tops Markets for my groceries like I have been or the past oh um forever?

Why the change you may wonder? I have been a loyal Tops shopper for many, many years. I absolutely love Tops I really do. They have so much to offer their shoppers. Well there is one big change we have started to make at our home…

A couple years ago I decided to stop buying as many processed foods. Some of those items included boxed pastas ready to make, boxed potatoes, and the kids gummies. We also started buying the more natural items for cleaning our home, like the method all purpose spray. We have been wanting to change our eating habits for a long time now.

How come it is that no one really is telling people how bad many of the popular brand name products really are for you and your body? I’ve always thought that it wouldn’t be allowed. I’m no expert by any means, but from the research we have been doing I know I don’t want to keep feeding my kids pesticides and chemicals man made added to our foods.

Eating healthy is expensive. Yup, we have always heard this especially in our couponing world. Many say you can never find coupons for organic items. I wouldn’t say never, but I would say we don’t nearly see them as much as we do for all these other brands. You can’t help but to wonder if there is something behind all these coupons for these items inciting us to buy their products. I mean when you can get things for such a lower price how are we to refuse? Everything now a days is so darn expensive and it’s not fair. I am choosing to get creative with my groceries and what we eat. I’m still on the fence on whether we can truly commit to an all organic diet. At the very least we can do about 75%. We are even going to look into buying meat options in bulk locally.

I spent $142 and saved $15
Cereal $4.99 for 2 used bogo coupon found in store coupon flier in natures marketplace
Muir glen free after $0.50/1 print
Kraft cream cheese $4.49 used $1/1 print
Wegmans cheese sticks $7.99 used $1/1 store coupon home mailer book

Last night my husband and I went to Wegmans and we really started more to phase in more natural and organic items into our diet. I love that I could find store brand items at Wegmans that were organic and not cost me an arm and a leg. Were they more expensive then the other non-organic items? Well, yes they were. Did I use a lot of coupons? Nope. But I did have a few coupons that did help me to save! Can you believe I bought a box of cereal for my kids that cost $4.99?? I can’t! But I did and I even saved a nice amount with a BOGO coupon Wegmans had in their Nature’s Marketplace booklet. Unfortunately, Tops just doesn’t have as many options in the organic department as Wegmans does. It’s amazing how much they really have when you look around. I was able to grab big boxes of the Annie’s Organic Fruit Snacks and Wegmans Brand Organic Fruit Strips too…something Tops does not offer. This is why I plan to stop shopping at Tops and start shopping more at Wegmans for my every week groceries.

If you shop at Wegmans and are looking for more healthier options to save (not just organic necessarily) – then you are in luck! We plan to feature these offers more on our new Couponing at Wegmans site!

Don’t really care or think you can invest in the more healthier organic foods? That’s okay too! No need to worry, because we won’t be changing or removing any of the great coupons and deals we see on many of the popular items.

This is exactly what I’ve been thinking about recently. I wonder if a natural/organic/local group would be good? I would love to see where people get local items, especially meat! Same for what kinds of organic/natural foods can be found where. I do know Wegmans has a great organic section, even if I haven’t shopped it much. I just recently started using essential oils and how they are working for me is making me think about the rest of what I’m eating and using. 🙂

We started using oils couple years ago too! I’m not in any natural/organic deals groups currently but wouldn’t be horrible to join. I know friends had started ones but said it not active. I’d love to be able to discuss more healthier options over all for people we are on way to farm now to look and discuss meat options! 🙂

Once you start buying non marketed meat you will never go back again! We have been purchasing local farmed meat for the past 7 years and we couldn’t be happier, it’s cheaper, and taste is beyond anything you would ever buy at the grocery store

Ash Ley I think you may be local to me? Where do you get your meat from?

Thank you! I am going to be looking into their items as well! That way I can price compare too. I was told Aldi’s has Organic milk best price!

Yes, and their “Never Any” line is a great way to buy meat.
