Celebrating 3 Years of Sharing Deals on My Momma Taught Me!
Over three years ago I gave birth to my second daughter, Emma. From birth she has been quite more of a handful than my first daughter, Jenna ever was. Being up late nights, for most of the night, with her I was always online reading up on deals and freebies. Around this time it appeared that Facebook was the growing trend now that everyone was allowed to have an account. I would often share pictures and links to deals and freebies I did. Soon I was receiving daily messages asking how I get these free samples and save so much money on my shopping trips. It was then that I decided to start up a facebook page so I could share not only deals, but my knowledge of coupons as well.
I remember taking a couple days to come up with the perfect name. I googled (yea that’s a word now 😉 lol) many names to see if they were taken yet in the online world. Finally, I came upon My Momma Taught Me. It seemed like such a perfect fit, because after all….my mother did teach me everything I know about coupons and saving money! Hence, My Momma Taught Me was born! 🙂
I can’t believe how far I have come since the first days I created My Momma Taught Me. It started out as a facebook page just sharing coupon tips as I thought about them or deals that popped up. Next thing I knew I was doing full coupon matchups for Tops Markets (and more) in google documents so everyone could have click-able links to the coupons.
In December of 2012, my husband surprised me by purchasing a website for me! Mymommataughtme.com was created and I have grown so much since! I absolutely love having a place where all my coupons tips and knowledge is stored so I can easily direct others to them so they can learn too!
Around June 2013, I had become friends with other deal bloggers. They convinced me that I should sign up for affiliate programs. Affiliate programs are sites that pay you money to share their coupons, deals, samples, etc that may be available at that time. My mother and friends had been telling me for awhile that I should have looked into that. That with all my hard work I put into it, why not get paid? It’s not that I didn’t know about it, I was just enjoying sharing the deals with everyone so much that I didn’t stop to think how I could benefit. After careful consideration I decided to sign up for a few affiliate programs. I am glad I did. Not that I make a lot of money, but I feel more accomplished in life now. Since my first daughter was a few months old, I have been a stay at home mom. I love that coupons and being wise with my money has allowed me to stay home with my children. Now that I earn some money from spending all my countless hours dedicated online to sharing deals, tips, freebies, and more….not only does my husband feel better about my time spent, but so do I.
So in conclusion, I want to thank each and every one of you that follow My Momma Taught Me. I love sharing the deals and coupon tips with you all, in hopes of saving your family lots of money, and making your lives a bit less stressful. 🙂 I hope to be celebrating many more anniversaries for the years to come!
