Please Read: Problems with using Dollar Doublers at your Tops??

Dollar Doublers?? What does this mean? You can pair only FOUR dollar doublers coupons from the Tops weekly ad with Four Manufacturer coupons valued at $1.00 each in each order. The coupons used with these doubles MUST be $1.00 off coupons. You must purchase at least $20!! That is supposed to be before coupons, unless you get a hard cashier (not fun!) and after sales and tops coupons. The coupons can not exceed the price of item bought (no overage given). Make sure that you do not mix up your dollar doubler coupons from one ad and another ad, otherwise they will beep and the cashier is likely to refuse them. They need to be all four form the same ad so that way you don’t run into unnecessary problems with them beeping. Sometimes you can also find you can print these out off their website during the dollar doubler promotion. Be sure you don’t mix those up as well.

I thought I would post about this in case you are or do run into a problem with using your dollar doublers at Tops. It seems that some Tops are telling you (which I have had problems in the past before with this) that coupons are discounts so you need to have $20 After coupons to use the doublers. Not true. Coupons are a form of payment. The store will get reimbursed for those coupons. Sales and discounts are different, as they are offers given out by the store them selves. That’s why it makes sense that you can use these dollar doublers with a $20 purchase BEFORE coupons, but AFTER sales and discounts .

Here is what they had to say:

“Hello – Can you clarify something for me and the readers of my blog page? Today I had an awful experience, which quite honestly was the worst I’ve ever been made to feel about my couponing. I spend so much money in your stores and try to show others how they really can save money at Tops. However today I was told by a cashier that my manufacturer’s coupons are considered discounts, therefore when they bring my subtotal below the $20 minimum required she could not accept the Dollar Doublers. Coupons will be reimbursed to Tops in the form of cash so exactly how is that considered a discount? I always try to make sure my total is above the $20 after Dollar Doublers are factored in but I don’t understand why my coupons would count against me. To me a store’s coupons are part of their sale but manufacturer’s coupons have nothing to do with what the store is offering. So I would like to have this explained for all of us avid shoppers.”

Here is the reply from Tops Friendly Markets:
(Indeed confirming this usage of dollar doublers)

tops answer to chistina bout doublers

Tops Friendly Markets:  “Hello – manufacturer coupons that bring your total below $20 do not prevent the redemption of the Dollar Doubler coupons. Christina – we appreciate you taking the time to explain to your blog followers and apologize for the misunderstanding. If anyone has had this experience this week where your manufacturer coupons brought your total below $20, and your Dollar Doubler coupons were denied, please email us at info@topsmarkets.com so that we may correct the error. Thank you.”

So Remember:

  • Keep the Dollar Doublers separated and in order from each ad
  • Have to be paired with $1.00 off Manufacturers Coupons Only
  • Total Spent in order to use doublers is $20
  • Total is BEFORE Coupons
  • Total is AFTER Sales and Store Coupons have been applied

Hope this Helps you in your shopping trips!!
