Boxed Review and Comparison to Other Wholesale Clubs
I’ve been seeing ads for Boxed for awhile now. It looks mighty intriguing when you see new ads online for places selling items like grocery and household needs at a good price shipped to your home. I decided to do some digging to see how the Boxed site compares to competitor sites to see if we are really getting a better deal switching to Boxed.
What is Boxed?
So Boxed is claiming they give out better deals then the wholesale clubs (like BJ’s Wholesale Club, Costco, Etc). With Boxed you don’t have to pay any membership fee like you do the wholesale clubs. But, with membership comes certain perks in addition to sales. So you have to think about that too if you take advantage of any of their extra perks. Some wholesale clubs, like BJ’s, now offers shipping to home or in store pick up making it much easier to shop. My personal favorite is using coupons (mostly digital now) at BJ’s Wholesale Club and their bakery section is amazing. So let’s take a couple items right now listed on Boxed and at BJ’s Wholesale Club and compare prices. I’m going to pick out some popular items to compare prices with the store I know best and personally shop at, BJ’s Wholesale Club.
Wondering what these compare to on Amazon? Take a look at the variety packs they offer online here. You’re paying about $13 for a 40 pack of this brand snacks.
- Shipped to home is offered from Boxed and many wholesale clubs now
- Both Boxed and wholesale clubs offer sales
- Both offer a nice selection of bulk items
- Both offer sales (some in form coupon offers)
- Both have free samples
- Boxed and BJ’s have friend referral credits (not sure about other wholesale clubs)
- Boxed doesn’t require membership fee
- Boxed offers 2 day free shipping with $49 min purchase
- Wholesale Clubs offer more product (produce, baked goods, clothing and more)
- Availability will differ on products between them all
- Some wholesale clubs offer gas savings and more membership perks
As with many stores when you compare you will have benefits to some over the other and it may vary significantly depending on you. It’s going to depend on your shopping preferences, your store availability, gas mileage, access to coupons, what you are shopping for. Should you ditch your membership to a club and only shop Boxed? That’s for you to decide! For me, I’ll be keeping my membership at BJ’s Wholesale Club and Amazon Prime (my two favorite places to shop now a days). It’s too close neck and neck for me to completely ditch my membership.
I have yet to order (I’m a procrastinate and think about it for long time kind of gal). But, I do know someone else who has and she has ordered twice now and is really enjoying the simplicity of shopping online at Boxed! She was kind enough to share her referral code so you can SAVE $15 off your first order here! Pretty sweet! I say if at the very least, order yourself one box using the referral code and see how you like it! Can’t go wrong with a free $15 to spend on groceries shipped to your home, with 2 free samples, in just TWO DAYS! Sweet!
