Dollar General Coupon PolicyA Look into the Dollar General Coupon Policy

Below you will find Dollar General Coupon Policy. It has been updated on 4/2018. You will also find my explanation of certain parts highlighted in this color and I will put the new changes in red Click Here to see the Dollar General Coupon Policy on their site. As with all store coupon policies, I suggest you print them out and keep a copy with you while shopping.

Their coupon policy does not state that they have any limits on amount of coupons used in a transaction. So as long as a coupon doesn’t state so you can use as many as you wish.

Main Rules:

Many are standard…
• Must be original. Photocopies are not accepted.
• Must have a scannable barcode or a valid Dollar General promotion code that can be scanned by a DG store associate
• Must have a visible and a valid expiration date
• Can be redeemed only for items sold at Dollar General, and can be redeemed only for the exact same item (package weight, size, etc.) unless otherwise specified
Limit of 5 identical coupons per household per day, if no limit specified on coupon
• Coupons for free items are only accepted if a purchase is required to get one free. A Dollar General Coupon offer will always have a purchase requirement with free item offers.
This means that they basically must be a buy one get one free coupon.
• A maximum of two coupons will be allowed per item. To do this, one coupon must be a Manufacturer Coupon and the second coupon must be a Dollar General Coupon. This is allowable as long as neither coupon states that it is not valid with other coupons.
This is normal stacking like any other store that has store coupons. Learn how stacking coupons works here
• Printed on valid Dollar General receipt tape paper

Stacking Coupons:

•  Only one Manufacturer Coupon and one Dollar General Coupon can be used per item in a transaction. Stacking of 2 or more Manufacturer Coupons per item is not allowed.
This is normal stacking like any other store that has store coupons. Learn how stacking coupons works here
•  The stacking of 2 or more Dollar General Coupons in a transaction is allowed unless otherwise noted on the coupon or associated promotional art.
This pertains to using any money off coupons together like $2.00 off a $10 store coupon and a $5 off $30 store coupon. This was always states in terms on store coupons.
•  Unless labeled a DG Store Coupon in the Digital Coupon Gallery, DG Digital Coupons are Manufacturer Coupons. Manufacturer DG Digital Coupons cannot be combined with any other type of Manufacturer coupon on the same item in a single transaction.
Go here to read more about How Dollar General Digital Coupons Work with examples.
•  If there is a conflict between a DG Digital Coupon and a Paper Coupon for the same item, the first one applied will be counted toward the transaction and the other will not, regardless of value.
Dollar General Coupon Overage

Coupon Overage:

•  If a coupon value is more than the price of the item, the remaining value will be applied to the balance of the transaction.
This is the same as it has been they allow the coupon value to be more then the product price and that amount gets applied to your cart.
•  Coupon overages can only be applied to the balance and will not be given back at the end of the transaction.
Means no cash back given.
•  Coupon overages will only be applied to the store merchandise remaining in the transaction and cannot be applied to gift cards, pre-paid money cards, phone cards, alcohol, or tobacco. Other restrictions may apply.
•  Cash back will not be given.
Means no cash back even if coupon is more then items you get you cannot get money back.

Dollar General WILL NOT  accept coupons if:

•  From other retailers
•  Expired
•  Photocopies
•  Screenshots
•  Pictures of any kind
•  Internet coupons without a scannable barcode, a Dollar General promotion code, or a visible and valid expiration date.
•  For “free” items that do not contain a purchase requirement (i.e., buy one get one free is acceptable)
Means no free product printables without buying one (basically must be bogo coupon), same with inserts and any free product coupons mailed to you.

•  Manufacturer coupons that do not have a “remit to:” address on the coupon.

Additional Notes:

All these are standard.

•  All coupon offers available only while quantities last.
•  Dollar General does not match competitor Ad prices.
•  Dollar General does not double or multiply the value of coupons.
•  Transactions cannot be broken up to avoid coupon stacking restrictions.
Whoa…this is definitely new and will be a huge bummer to those who go in and do tons of orders. This will hopefully be pretty strict otherwise what’s the point? I have a feeling they will end up being lenient.
•  Only one Dollar General Digital Coupon Account per person.
BOOM. Yes! Please limit people to only use ONE account.

Dollar General reserves the right to:

• Limit purchase quantities to typical retail purchase quantities and to exclude resellers/dealers.
Basically they can tell you that you cannot buy 20 of the same item if they choose to do so.
• Not accept coupons over a certain dollar amount, as well as above a certain threshold as it relates to the total transaction.
Basically they can choose what coupons they want to deny. If a coupon is a high value say like $10 they may choose to deny it. Very vague, but there for them to say hey it’s in our policy.
• Remove any coupon or offer for any reason, including both manufacturer coupons and store discounts.
Again…vague, but giving the store the excuse to choose to deny couponers any coupon they see to including the digital coupons.
