My Grocery Shopping Trip this week at Tops

So recently I have talked about my changes to my shopping habits and how our family is eating different foods than we used to over the years. I shared a story about why I stopped shopping at Tops. I have had a very long relationship sort to speak with Tops. I’ve always shopped at Tops and loved Tops, but recently started buying groceries at Wegmans. Well I decided since I’ve been seeing more Tops brand organic items I would give them a try again. So this week I shopped at Tops and I wanted to share my experience with you.

First off I’m sad that my Tops does not have very much of a selection for organic produce. In fact they have zero organic berries. I have decided that although it’s impractical for us to be 100% organic, that certain items I want to be organic when we purchase and fruit is one of them. Not only did they not have organic berries, but the berries were wilted do you say? So the awesome bogo sale on the regular berries was a bummer for me. I did get them because I did not want to shop another store, but disappointed.

Secondly, I wish my Tops had more of a meat selection. We have been purchasing out meat from a local farmer, but some weeks we haven’t been able to get out there. So picking up a couple things at the grocery store would be useful. My Tops doesn’t offer much of a selection for natural meats.

Overall I feel better shopping at Wegmans for items because for us the items I want are offered more at Wegmans. I can pick up the Annies boxes of fruit snacks (we tried Tops Brand Full Circle Organic and don’t care for them as much as they are not soft like the Annies). I can find more healthier and natural/organic options for the foods I normally purchase. I was forced to buy other items at Tops this week as I didn’t want to stop over to Wegmans as well. Basically the only thing that I like about Tops so far more than Wegmans is their brand name of Organic Juice Boxes.

I’m trying so hard to like shopping at Tops for my personal groceries. I love everything Tops has to offer. I just wish they had more of a selection of items like Wegmans does. I do know they are trying hard to get more Organic items in there and I’m happy to see more popping up at my store. They stick right out to me.
